Antibody test to detect a previous Covid19 disease & to check the success of the vaccination
The antibody test is not used to detect an acute infection with the coronavirus and is not an alternative to the rapid antigen test or PCR test. Instead, the antibody test shows a reaction of the immune system to COVID-19, based on which a previous infection can be detected. With the help of an antibody test, you can find out whether a previous illness was, for example, a harmless cold or a coronavirus infection with mild symptoms, for example. You can also use the antibody test to check the success of your vaccination.
Checking the success of the vaccination
Detection of a previous infection with COVID-19 through antibodies.
Analysis of a blood sample (1-2 drops of blood from the tip of the finger are usually sufficient)
Antibody tests are evaluated under medical supervision
Antibody test results available after approx. 20 minutes
Detection of COVID-19 based on antibodies
Schnelltest Berlin offers rapid antibody tests every day in Mitte, Steglitz, Spandau test center (temporary not available). Visit our testing site and get tested for a previous infection with COVID-19 quickly without waiting in line or check how successful your vaccination against the Corona Virus was.
With the antibody test from Schnelltest Berlin you can check the success of the vaccination. The proof of the vaccination success is done by measuring the antibodies against the S1 spike protein.
The antibody test from Schnelltest Berlin serves as evidence of a previous corona infection.
About 2 weeks after the first vaccination (BioNTech / Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna) the body forms the IgG antibodies as immune protection against the corona virus. As a result, the number of antibodies against the S protein of the corona virus increases demonstrably. For a reliable test result, however, experts recommend carrying out an antibody test only from the first week after the second vaccination or four weeks after a vaccination with the vaccine from Johnson & Johnson.
The antibody test is not used to detect an acute infection with the coronavirus and is not an alternative to the rapid antigen test or PCR test. Instead, the antibody test shows a reaction of the immune system to the coronavirus, based on which a past COVID-19 infection can be detected. For a meaningful result, it is recommended to do the antibody test no earlier than 3 weeks after the suspected infection. This is due to the fact that antibodies are not formed until after the infection.
So you can use an antibody test to find out whether a past illness was actually an infection with coronavirus.
Only 2-3 drops of blood from the fingertip are required for the rapid antibody test. A small puncture is sufficient. The test is evaluated directly in the test station. The test result is available after approx. 20 minutes.
Currently we are only offering rapid antibody tests in our center in Mitte, Charlottenburg, Steglitz, Prenzlauer Berg, Gleisdreieck, Zehlendorf, Schöneberg, Spandau, Treptower Park, Potsdamer Platz, Alexanderplatz and BIKINI BERLIN.
The results of the rapid antibody test are sent to you by email in compliance with data protection laws in approx. 20 minutes.
We perform rapid antibody tests on children from the age of 3. Parents must accompany their children if they are younger than 14 years of age to perform the COVID-19 test. Unaccompanied children over 14 years of age can be tested with a declaration of consent signed by their parents.
If antibodies are detected, a previous infection with COVID-19 is likely. As it is still unclear, how long antibodies stay in your immune system and to what extent they offer protection from a future infection, a positive test does not mean immunity against COVID-19. This also applies to the spead of virus mutations.
Please keep maintaining hygiene standards and following social distancing guidelines even if antibodies are detected.
